4 Wrestling rumors we hope aren't and 4 we hope are true

4 Wrestling rumors we hope aren't and 4 we hope are true
This week's version of WWE/Wrestling rumors that we hope is real and those that we hope aren't is here. The wrestling gossip mill hasn't had the best week, but there's always a lot to talk about.

Here are the latest rumors from the world of wrestling and WWE, ranging from storylines to injuries to absences and more.

The backstage reaction of WWE's Randy Orton to a creative pitch

Randy Orton is in a unique situation in the WWE. After a half-year feud with The Fiend and Alexa Bliss ended in disappointment, WWE moved quickly to ensure he was no longer involved.

His post-WrestleMania storyline has been with [Matt] Riddle, a relative newcomer, and former United States Champion. On RAW, the Viper was defeated by Riddle in a match. Orton joined up with Riddle the next week, and a Tag Team between the two seems to be the way to go.

Riddle lost the United States Championship at WrestleMania, but he hasn't tried to reclaim it. Randy Orton was in favor of working with Riddle, according to Fightful.

We hope this is correct because it seems to be a fun plot. When WWE is committed, "odd pairing" tag teams are a tried-and-true formula that seems to work the majority of the time. Although we have no idea how long this storyline will play out, we can only hope that it will be a long-term one that culminates in a major pay-per-view event.

John Cena father on Otis possibly leaving WWE

4 Wrestling rumors we hope aren't and 4 we hope are true
In the year 2020, Otis was a shocking breakout star in WWE. Things were looking up for Otis, thanks to his storyline with Mandy Rose leading up to WrestleMania 36 and his sudden Money in the Bank win.

Then WWE realized that Otis was not going to be Mr. Money in the Bank. Otis was never going to be WWE or Universal Champion since Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns were the two main World Champions for the majority of 2020.

Since then, he's dropped through the ranks, turning heel on SmackDown and aligning himself with Chad Gable. Though he appears to be a Tag Team Title contender, his WWE pinnacle could have passed him by.

In an interview with Dan Mirade of the Boston Wrestling MWF, John Cena Sr. indicated that Otis could be the next to leave WWE.

We hope this isn't the case, since Otis is a valuable asset to WWE, even if he'll never be a main-event Superstar. He's funny and versatile enough to play a variety of roles.

John Cone gets a promotion not a release from WWE

The firing of Mark Carrano seems to have helped someone else in WWE. John Cone, a veteran referee who was a member of the talent relations team, was recently predicted to lose his work.

Cone was not only held in that position but he was promoted as a result of Carrano's firing from WWE.

Cone's role as a WWE referee was never supposed to be jeopardized.

We hope this is the case because it's encouraging to see a veteran rewarded rather than released. We've seen some sad moments of long-time servants being released by WWE in the last 13 months.

It's comforting to know that Carrano's loss was, in the end, someone else's benefit.

A possible update on Randy Orton's injury

4 Wrestling rumors we hope aren't and 4 we hope are true
Randy Orton's storyline with Riddle, a multi-time WWE Champion, was in jeopardy after he allegedly sustained a minor injury recently. There were questions about what happened before RAW last week, and Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported that Orton had a deep bruise in his arm and shoulder area.

Randy Orton, on the other hand, continued to wrestle, teaming up with Riddle to beat Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander. Even if he was hurt, WWE Superstars (and wrestlers in general) are known for working through injuries, particularly minor ones.

In any case, we hope this isn't the case because things could get much worse. WWE needs to either put Randy Orton in non-wrestling segments on RAW or put Riddle in charge of their tag team matches to shield him.

Outside WWE CM Punk is interested in a backstage

CM Punk made his return to wrestling on WWE Backstage, where he worked with FOX rather than WWE. Fans have been clamoring for CM Punk to return to WWE or some other major promotion for years.

CM Punk, on the other hand, has made it clear that his ring days are behind him. It's hard to believe it's been more than seven years since his unofficial retirement and departure from WWE.

In a Twitter Q&A session, CM Punk was asked about his involvement in a backstage job in a wrestling promotion. His response was very intriguing.

We hope this is so because CM Punk's mind will be better used off the ring than in it. Even though fans would love to see CM Punk return to WWE as an in-ring competitor, it seems impossible.

Two WWE stars recently not wait outside the office of Vince McMahon

4 Wrestling rumors we hope aren't and 4 we hope are true
The latest WWE "spring cleaning" was yet another surprise, as it occurred on April 15th, exactly a year after the previous one. Steve Cutler and Chelsea Green are two names that have been released in recent months, with the latter being a bit of a surprise.

The situation in which both former WWE Superstars attempted to secure meetings with Vince McMahon was discussed in depth by Fightful Select. They were also told not to wait outside McMahon's office, according to reports.

We hope this isn't the case, because it's a bad position for any Superstar to be in, particularly when other WWE stars tell them that building a relationship with Vince McMahon is crucial.

Direction possible of Daniel Bryan in WWE after his expulsion

Daniel Bryan was sacked from SmackDown just as he openly expressed his intention to become a WWE part-timer. The stipulation was that Daniel Bryan had to quit SmackDown after Roman Reigns beat him clean to retain the Universal Championship.

Bryan's future is up in the air after his amazing stint on SmackDown came to an end. He might be taking a break before returning as a part-timer, but even if he does, it won't be on SmackDown.

Daniel Bryan now has two choices inside WWE: NXT and RAW. Daniel Bryan may be headed to NXT, according to WON's Dave Meltzer.

We sincerely hope this is the case, as NXT is the ideal home for a Superstar like Daniel Bryan. He'd be the most recognizable star on the roster, and having him as the main attraction at WrestleMania would be a huge boost. We may also get to see a side of Daniel Bryan we haven't seen before.

The Reason Why WWE did not use AJ Styles after WrestleMania

4 Wrestling rumors we hope aren't and 4 we hope are true
Since WrestleMania 37, Omos and AJ Styles haven't been seen on WWE TV. The fact that they will defend their newly earned Tag Team Titles against The New Day was only revealed a day before the May 3rd episode of RAW.

There had been no mention of the RAW Tag Team Champions before that. There was no other choice for Omos and AJ Styles than to compete for the RAW Tag Team Championship. Even so, just five years into his WWE career, AJ Styles walked away from WrestleMania as the company's Grand Slam Champion.

WON's Bryan Alvarez claims that AJ Styles was not used until May 3rd because there was nothing written about him.

We sincerely hope this isn't real, as it's as strange as it gets. The Tag Team Champions couldn't be used by WWE, but the losers of the WrestleMania match (The New Day) are getting daily TV time and throwing tomatoes at heels. It's completely illogical.
