3 Returns on SmackDown that Could Happen

3 Returns on SmackDown that Could Happen
Post-WrestleMania episodes of RAW and SmackDown have been widely awaited since Brock Lesnar returned to the WWE following WrestleMania 28 in 2012. In previous years, stars like Bobby Lashley, Nia Jax, and Paige, have either returned to or debuted on RAW right after WrestleMania.

Although Adam Cole is more than ready for the main roster, NXT broadcasted a post-match video. Next week, Kyle O'Reilly will discuss his unofficial match with Cole from TakeOver: Stand & Deliver. If a star is on the verge of being promoted to the main roster, they normally don't make an appearance on NXT TV for a few weeks or months.

Rhea Ripley vanished from WWE programming after losing to Raquel Gonzalez in a Last Woman Standing match at New Year's Evil. She competed in the Royal Rumble in 2021 but didn't make her RAW debut until March.

Without any NXT debuts, RAW's post-WrestleMania episode came and went. Ivar and Charlotte Flair of the Viking Raiders, meanwhile, have returned from their hiatuses.

WWE SmackDown, on the other hand, could be a different story. Many big and small names are expected to appear on the SmackDown episode following WrestleMania 37. It might be a big name making a return. A hungry young NXT star may also make their WWE debut to begin the next chapter in their careers. On this week's episode of SmackDown, there are 3 possible returns or debuts.

Becky Lynch could make a return on SmackDown

Becky Lynch is the biggest name who will shock the world by being on SmackDown. Lynch's pregnancy announcement was one of the biggest surprises in WWE during the pandemic period in 2020.

She had defended the RAW Women's title at Money in the Bank the night before her big announcement. Since Lynch had to leave, Asuka was given the title instead of a potential title shot. While some WWE women have said that Asuka was "handed" the title, she earned it by winning a match.

Lynch has been out of commission since then. She gave birth in December but maintained her fitness during the process.

Since she was a member of RAW before her hiatus, The Man is more associated with the brand. She was WWE's longest-reigning RAW Women's Champion and one of the biggest stars in the company's history. Before the 2021 Royal Rumble, Lynch also trolled the WWE Universe.

Her boyfriend, Seth Rollins, was drafted to SmackDown during the 2020 WWE Draft, but things have changed since she left. WWE makes an effort to keep couples who are dating or married on the same brand. Carmella and Corey Graves, as well as Bianca Belair and Montez Ford, are all on SmackDown.

Given that Rollins is now a member of SmackDown, Lynch's return to the Blue brand will make sense. If she does to SmackDown, the division will be immediately improved from top to bottom.

Lynch has feuded with Bayley and Sasha Banks (briefly), but her first rivalry back maybe with Carmella. After that, she could be eased into a Championship program with Belair at some stage. Few things will be bigger than The Man turning up on Friday if WWE wants to make a big splash on SmackDown - and if she is willing.

Santana Garrett was in WWE limbo but could join SmackDown

Santana Garrett has been a consistent performer in the ring for a long time and would benefit the SmackDown women's division. She competed in a few NXT matches over the last two years, but she was mainly used to help others get over.

Garrett was rumored to have been called up to the main roster in November, but she has yet to be seen on WWE TV. Garrett played in the Women's Royal Rumble match in 2021 but then vanished.

Last month, she also tweeted a picture of herself backstage at SmackDown. Garrett was supposed to make an appearance on the show, but she didn't.

That was most likely done as a tease because WrestleMania 37 was already in full swing at the time it was posted. The division needs reinforcements, as well as new contenders for SmackDown Women's Champion Bianca Belair.

Belair has already fought Sasha Banks and Bayley, so she'll have to face some new opponents in the future. Garrett will be a fine seasoned addition to the SmackDown women's roster regardless of what happens.

After losing NXT Women's title Io Shirai may debut on SmackDown

3 Returns on SmackDown that Could Happen
Following many WWE releases on Thursday, SmackDown could benefit from several changes to the women's roster. Chelsea Green and Billie Kay, who were both entertaining and unlucky, are no longer with us. Green had been set to make his debut several times before contracting COVID and then being injured in November. And there's Io Shirai.

Raquel Gonzalez ended Shirai's impressive reign as NXT Women's Champion at TakeOver: Stand & Deliver. She doesn't have anything else to prove on NXT unless she tries to reclaim her title. Shirai could pursue the gold, but on the most recent episode of NXT, other feuds for the title were created.

Franky Monet made his debut and immediately put Gonzalez on alert. Zoey Stark and Mercedes Martinez both made strong arguments for a shot at the title. TakeOver: Stand & Deliver may have been The Genius of the Sky's NXT farewell.

Although the shows following WrestleManias are normally expected for that reason, there hasn't been a big debut from NXT this week. Shirai's addition to SmackDown will cause havoc on Friday nights. It will also give the team another legal name.

Shirai would not be forced to compete for the SmackDown Women's Championship right away, but she would have to do so in the future. Bayley, Carmella, Natalya, and Sasha Banks feuds could easily keep her occupied before a title shot.

Can it happen, or will Shirai take a break from WWE after her successful reign as NXT Women's Champion?
