There are many young female wrestlers rising through the ranks in WWE right now, but it seems that the organization is still open to signing women with more experience on the circuit.

The recent signing of Taya Valkyrie at the age of 37 has several fans asking what the age limit will be for WWE to sign a female talent, considering that the company already has many female wrestlers who are over the age of 40.

Though Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon is not on the active roster, she is now 44 years old and wrestled her last match at WrestleMania 34 at the age of 42.

In the past, many WWE legends, many of whom are much older than the present crop of women, have returned to the organization to be a part of the Women's Revolution.

The following list focuses on just 5 women on WWE's roster who are actually over 40 years old.

WWE Superstar Mickie James 41 years old

Mickie James is currently known as a WWE veteran, despite the fact that she hasn't appeared on RAW or SmackDown in several months. The former Women's Champion last competed in WWE as part of The Royal Rumble in January, where she came up short. Bianca Belair was the woman who won the opportunity to headline WrestleMania.

Mickie James is now in her second tenure with WWE, having first joined the organization in 2005 and wrestling the likes of Lita and Trish Stratus. James was then let go by the organization in 2010.

Mickie James returned to WWE in 2017 after spending many years on the Independent Circuit, working for a number of companies other than WWE.

The former Champion brings a wealth of experience to the ring and has been regarded as someone who can support the new crop of female wrestlers, having worked her way up through the ranks of WWE at one point in her career.

Mickie James is also thought to be a sure-fire WWE Hall of Famer one day, having amassed a slew of honors over the course of her more-than-two-decade-long career.

WWE Superstar Mercedes Martinez 40 years old

Mercedes Martinez has made waves in NXT over the last few months, but the WWE Universe will remember her as the second woman in RETRIBUTION.

Mercedes Martinez asked to return to NXT rather than be elevated to a member of the company, and she has since been able to resume her duties on the black and gold brand.

Mercedes Martinez has only been a member of WWE since the beginning of 2020 when she eventually signed a contract after wrestling on the Independent Circuit for two decades. Martinez played in the 2017 Mae Young Classic, reaching the semi-finals before losing to Shayna Baszler.

The following year Mercedes Martinez participated in the second Mae Young Classic, but in the second round, this time she was defeated.

Despite being only in WWE for approximately a year, Mercedes Martinez is known as a wrestler and undoubtedly a wrestler who is pleased to have the Triple H in an NXT locker room to assist the new women in the company.

As part of the Mae Young Classic in 2018, the current star of the WWE debuted as well and beat multiple new stars of the organization on the road to the semi-final, where she was defeated by Toni Storm.

Meiko Satomura is an NXT UK brand since 2020 and is seen as a professional on-air talent mentor, showing how much WWE is actually respecting their expertise in business and their hard work over the past two decades.

Since 2010 when she made her debut next door to The Usos, Tamina Snuka has been part of the WWE list. A daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy Tamina Snuka hasn't had the same amount of success as many of her other female wrestlers, but she's managed to stay with the company. organization for more than a decade.

Tamina Snuka, who is 43 years old and the mother of two teenage girls, is currently the most active female talent on the roster.

The Submission Magician didn't appear on WWE's radar until 2017 when she competed in the Mae Young Classic and advanced to the finals. Shayna Baszler was already 37 years old when she signed with WWE, having spent the vast majority of her adult life pursuing a career in Mixed Martial Arts.

Shayna Baszler rose to prominence as one of the "Four Horsewomen of MMA," dominating the NXT brand for several years before being elevated to the main roster. Despite her age, Shayna Baszler has been able to sustain a career at the highest level and continues to play for the business on a regular basis, having played in the most matches in 2021 so far.

So far this year, the Queen of Spades has wrestled 17 matches, with Riddle, who has wrestled 15, being her nearest competitor.
